ARJEN LUCASSEN To Release New Solo Concept Album At The End Of April

Arjen Lucassen will release his new concept solo album, "Lost In The New Real", on April 23rd in Europe via InsideOut. It will hit the shops three days earlier in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The artwork for the 2CD release was created by renowned designer Claudio Bergamin.

A video clip of Arjen commenting on the "Lost In The New Real" artwork can be seen at the bottom of this posting.

Lucassen enlisted the talents of legendary screen actor Rutger Hauer as the narrator on "Lost In The New Real".

New PANIC ROOM Live 2012 Dates

PANIC ROOM are currently recording album number three, the follow-up to the excellent "Satellite".

This album will be released in June 2012, on the band's new record label 'Esoteric Antenna'.

To promote the new album they have announced a select few 'launch' shows in June/July.

To celebrate the new artist signings to their label, Esoteric Antenna have organised a Sshowcase gig in London (The Underworld) to bring all 4 bands together! Therefore on the 14th April there is a unique opportunity to see Panic Room (20.00-20.45) play on the same bill as Sanguine Hum (18.45-19.30), The Reasoning (17.30 -18.15), and Tin Spirits (21.15-22.15).

MR SO & SO's deleted 1995 album, released on Cyclops, is now available to purchase via iTunes and cdbaby.

"Compendium" is also available for only £7 HERE (Bandcamp).

Mr So & So are presently working on their fifth album which is the follow-up to 2009's excellent "Sugarstealer".

For those that were there from the beginning, you will remember the leap in songwriting that was evident after the experience of writing and recording the first album 'Paraphernalia', though the songs were really good on the first album, the experince catapulted the band onto the next level regarding writing and arranging. Not long after the Paraphernalia sessions the band started to write the beginnings of what would turn out to be 'Compendium', the album that many still regard as the most important Mr. So & So album from the poignant 'Closet Skeletons' to the crowd pleasing 'Tick-A-Box' through some very dark rocktracks including the big riff driven 'Missionary' through to one of the bands classics 'The Visitor'. If you haven't already obtained a copy of the now deleted album, you can download it as an MP3 or FLAC (Lossless audio, same quality as a CD) from the Bandcamp website. A classic '90's prog rock album for £7 that many people have been stunned by the playing and songwriting ability and the band are constantly asked to play tracks from the album.

Support will be from Konchordat.

"Unfortunately Landmarq have had to postpone their appearance at the CRS at the Wesley centre, maltby on May 12th until later in the year, but we are thrilled to announce that the mighty Tangent will now play that date instead. Support will remain Konchordat. Tickets on sale shortly!"

The Tangent released their latest album, COMM, in September 2011.
This superb album is definitely the best prog CD of the year in my opinion.

This is the follow-up to their debut, "Next Stop", which was released in 2010.

InVertigo is Sebastian Brennert (Vocals, Keys), Matthias Hommel (Bass), Carsten Dannert (Drums), Jacques Moch (Guitars) and Michael Kuchenbecker (Keys).

The band opened procedings at the UK's Summers End Festival on Saturday, October 08th 2011.

AFFECTOR Sign Worldwide Deal With InsideOut Music

InsideOut Music have signed the progressive rock/metal band AFFECTOR and will release their dubut album, "Harmagedon", on May 21st (May 22nd in N.America).

AFFECTOR is a new international band consisting of German guitar-player Daniel Fries, Dutch drummer Collin Leijenaar (Neal Morse/Dilemma) as well as bass player Mike LePond (Symphony X) and vocalist Ted Leonard (Spock's Beard/Enchant/Thought Chamber) both from the United States.

The band's debut album was mixed and mastered at The Mouse House in Los Angeles by Rich Mouser (Spock's Beard/Transatlantic/Neal Morse).

Affector are joined by special guests Alex Argento, Neal Morse, Jordan Rudess and Derek Sherinian all on keyboards.

Also featured on this concept album is the Polish orchestra Sinfonietta Consonus.

"Citing broad musical influences and diverse inspirations between prog and classic as well as modern rock acts, AFFECTOR is like an open marriage between progressive rock/metal and orchestral minimalism, destined to appeal to everyone into bands ranging from Dream Theater, A.C.T., Symphony X, Darkwater to Queen or Rush.

DAMIAN WILSON - More Tour Dates + "Cosmas" Remastered

DAMIAN WILSON is planning new dates for a solo-tour in May and will also be releasing a remastered version of his 1997 album, "Cosmas".

The album, "Cosmas", will be released on March 23rd on iTunes and as a limited edition digipack CD.

"Cosmas was originally mastered in 1997 by Chris Blair the Senior Mastering Engineer at Abbey Road Studios. Chris worked with the Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Radiohead and many many more of my favourite artists. So I felt very fortunate.With changing times, equipment and 'ears', the CD now feels like it was mastered more for vinyl than CD. Today albums are often excessively limited and over compressed through digital formatting. I have always tried to stay clear of this, but felt that the original master, while good for it's time, could be improved on, so it can stand up against the modern recordings of today.

Earlier this week, lead singer Claudio Sanchez "leaked" an acoustic version of the brand new song, "Sentry The Defiant", via YouTube.

"Instead of making you wait until the new album is released, I thought I'd share my excitement for this song with you now. I decided with this piece to video document it's creation."
"This is literally the first time I played the song through in its entirety."

The band is also giving away a free download to the audio of the song on their website.

Coheed & Cambria will tour this Summer with IRON MAIDEN in the US and Canada as part of the "Maiden England World Tour". The tour will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, MAIDEN's original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour".

The News from the GALAHAD camp is that their new album, "Battle Scars", is now 99.9% mixed.

Subject to a few minor adjustments, here and there, it will be mastered in the next couple of weeks or so.

It is all sounding very big, fat, heavy, dark, light, uplifting, rocking, dancing, progging, trancing, epic etc, etc...Karl Groom has really excelled himself with this recording totally capturing our vision for this album. In fact we all feel that is easily the best studio album we have ever recorded ( yes, I know we would say that but we really, really do!) in terms of song writing, performances, mixing, arrangements and pure sonic quality!Neil is an integral part of this recording and we are sure he would be very proud of what we have achieved with 'Battle Scars'. He's probably looking down on us right now telling us to get on with it!

THE REASONING have announced that due to the illness of Owain Roberts they have temporarily recruited Mr So & So's Dave Foster.

I am sure that you will join me in wishing Owain a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back with the band very soon.

"The Reasoning regret to announce that, due to illness, our guitarist - and dear friend - Owain will be taking several months' respite from the band. Our love and thoughts are with Owain and his family, and can we please ask that you respect their privacy at this time. We look forward to his return following his recovery.

In the meantime, we are very fortunate to be able to welcome our good friend Dave Foster (Mr So and So) into the fold, who will be standing in temporarily on guitar duties for The Reasoning during Owain's recuperation. Dave will be performing with us at our forthcoming showcase gig in London this April, and will also feature on our new album, which is due for release this year.

As always, we are hugely grateful for all of your support, enthusiasm and understanding: you mean the world to us. Despite these unhappy circumstances, we would like to reassure you that our plans for 2012 will still go ahead. Writing for album 4 is nearing completion, and is still on schedule for release via Esoteric/Antenna in September. More news on that in due course.

The SUMMERS END FESTIVAL has announced the addition of Swedes, ANGLAGARD & Knifeworld (UK) to the line-up.

The festival takes place at Lydney Town Hall on September 28th-30th.

We are thrilled to announce the first ever UK appearance of legendary Swedish symphonic prog band Anglagard. The band were pioneers of the 90s prog revival, with a sound drenched in the 70s, and released two terrific albums, Hybris and Epilog. Their live shows are legendary, with three festival appearances in the USA particularly well remembered. After reuniting briefly in 2003, 2012 will mark the long awaited release of album three and a return to live activity. Progressive rockers TOUCHSTONE have announced a re-issue of their back catalogue with bonus material.

They are set to release their back catalogue on March 26th (Europe) & March 23rd (GSA) through SPV/Steamhammer.

The band, who are currently promoting their new album, "The City Sleeps", will embark on a mini UK tour in the spring to mark the occasion.

IT BITES release their new album, "Map Of The Past", at the end of March 2012.

Following on from the highly-acclaimed Tall Ships, It Bites return with their first concept album in a career that spans 25 years.
Inspired by the discovery of an old family photograph, Map of the Past is a highly personal journey that explores love, passion, jealousy, anger, remorse and loss through the eyes of a previous generation against the backdrop of Britain as it enters a new century and one of the most defining periods of its history.
Written by John Mitchell and John Beck over the course of 2011, it was recorded at Outhouse Studios in Reading and features Bob Dalton on drums and Lee Pomeroy on bass.

"Map of the Past" is released on 26th March 2012 via InsideOut.

ANDERSON Denies That He Was Asked To Rejoin YES

Original YES vocalist Jon Anderson has said that rumours that he was asked to rejoin YES were "unfounded and false".

The rumours started after Yes' current frontman Benoit David was forced to pull out of the band's forthcoming tour due to illness.

Glass Hammer vocalist, Jon Davison, has now agreed to take over for the time being.

Anderson, is at present busy with his solo career and is currently on tour performing, as well as recording new music.
He also responded to recent statements, in the press, by Yes bassist Chris Squire in which Chris claimed he is in regular communication with Jon by email.

"I haven't spoken with Chris in four years, and the only e-mail I have received from him in the last three years was him asking for free tickets to my show in Mesa, Arizona last week - very sad, but true."

YES Have Another New Singer

YES were forced to cancel the last three shows of their European Tour in December due to the illness of lead singer Benoit David who has still not recovered.

ELECTRIC GARDEN FESTIVAL Postponed

The organisers of this years ELECTRIC GARDEN FESTIVAL have announced that the event, scheduled for May, has been postponed.

The full statement reads as follows...

It is with great regret that we announce the Electric Garden Progressive Rock Festival will not be taking place in May this year. As some of our mailing list will know, we were attempting to get a suitable venue for most of last year. When it looked as though a venue would not be found we put forward the idea of a live internet streaming gig which was in place for mid-May with bands arranged and most of the details in place. At the eleventh hour a suitable venue came forward and we attempted to revert to the 2011 format of a regular festival plus streaming. Unfortunately the date had to move forwards by a week and the band contracted for the original streaming gig could no longer perform on the new date. We contacted several other bands and realised that it was going to be difficult to break even on our costs even if we sold out the festival.
The increased fees demanded by bands plus the usual overheads, coupled with the reduced time to market the festival has made the event untenable in its current form. I mentioned on the blog surrounding the Nearfest cancellation that to run a festival of this kind required compromise from all parties. When you have 8-12 artists and 1 ticket, it is not a massive calculation to realise that for each band to receive some remuneration, then a reduction in fee has to be considered to make everything work. During January we actively sought sponsorship to be able to run the festival and remunerate the artists. Sadly we were unable to secure any sponsorship but we did have dialogue with several organisations who were looking for a longer marketing period. We are keen to keep the festival alive and we are looking at different options to run some kind of event later in the year. Sorry to all the people who have contacted us with their support, and also to the bands who offered to play for expenses only.

THE FLOWER KINGS Return After A Five-Year Hiatus

Legendary Progressive Rock Band THE FLOWER KINGS are set to release a new album in June via InsideOut Music.

"THE FLOWER KINGS - the iconic progressive, symphonic rock band formed in 1995 by guitarist/singer/composer Roine Stolt [Transatlantic] - announce their immediate return to service after a five year hiatus.

The band - Roine Stolt, bassist Jonas Reingold, keyboardist Tomas Bodin, singer/guitarist Hasse Froberg and newcomer Felix Lehrmann, a 26 year-old drumming prodigiy from Germany - began recording a new album at Sweden's Varispeed studios on January 23. The music is being recorded in classic '70s style, with all musicians performing live in a room through vintage '70s tube recording equipment and NEVE consoles.

If all muses permit, the new TFK is scheduled for a June release via InsideOut Music (Century Media/EMI). The yet-to-be-named album has an epic 23-minute centerpiece and is in classic Flower Kings style - complete with all the dreamy melodic and cinematic elements that fans have come to love over the years, while also containing some heavier psychedelic music and darker, high-energy material.

The band hopes to embark on a headlining European tour in September, but will perform its first official reunion gig at the Sweden Rock Festival in June 2012."

One of my favourite prog bands, UK, have reunited and will start touring through the USA and Canada. John Wetton, Eddie Jobson and Terry Bozzio will be on stage from the beginning of May.

"Hello, dear friends, we hope that all is well with you. So... (finally) our brand new EP, entitled And Another Thing....... is recorded, mixed and ready for mastering. This is somewhat of a milestone for The Reasoning, since it will be the last of our products to be released via our independent label Comet Music. This makes it a very special CD for us, not least because it marks the end of an era and the beginning of a whole new one. The EP is also the first release that's fully representative of our (now nicely established) 5 piece line-up: all band members have contributed to the song-writing for the first time, making it a real team effort. We're SO excited about you hearing these tracks!

So: how do you get hold of it? We have decided to do one last pre-order: this time, you'll be able to get the CD a week before the official release date (12th March 2012), and the first 500 copies will be signed by the band. We have kept the price as low as possible, and pre-orders will be separated into territories - UK / Europe / Rest Of World. This is so that we can be fair when it comes to the pricing of postage, etc.

So there we have it, folks. The Reasoning on Comet Music is no more! The next time we release new material, it will be via Esoteric / Cherry Red. In the 7 year operation of Comet Music, we have released 3 studio albums, 1 single, 1 DVD, 1 live album - and now we finish this in style with an EP. A full set! Comet Music will now concentrate on signing other bands, and will post news on how to submit demos etc. in the very near future. For now, it's back to album 4 and making all the exciting plans we have in store come to fruition.

IONA - Upcoming UK Dates March to June

IONA have six UK dates taking place during the first half of the year with the possibility of more to follow.
Their first date is on March 01st in Canterbury.

After a couple of days rehearsals in London, the band will be on the road again in a month's time for the first of 6 UK dates in the first half of this year, interspersed between tours in Switzerland and the USA. We're hoping to add further UK dates (possibly some in Ireland) later in the year.

We hope you can make it along if there's a gig in your locality - and do bring your friends! Kicking off the tour is the band's first ever gig in Canterbury, which we're very much looking forward to.

FRANCK CARDUCCI - Oddity (Album Review)

Franck Carducci is a multi-instrumentalist (bass, piano, guitar, drums, etc.) and was brought up in a family where music was a way of life.
Franck produced his first melody, on the keyboard of an organ, at age five and mastered Chuck Berry's ‘Rock 'n' Roll’ on guitar by age eleven.
He joined his first rock band at fourteen.

After this he played with numerous bands and appeared on around fifteen albums.

In 2008, Franck moved to Amsterdam where he gets into the local scene and performs regularly in the famous clubs of the city.

Then in 2010, Franck opened a gig for one of his heroes, Steve Hackett (Genesis).
This experience convinced Franck to focus on producing his own solo album and then came "ODDITY".

"Oddity" opens with the fifteen minute track, "Achilles", and if you are into traditional prog (1970's), like myself, you will really love this one. It has a powerful sound, lots of keyboards, guitars and tempo changes and reminds me of Genesis, Camel, Pink Floyd etc.
Definitely my favourite track on the album.

"The Quind", has great harmonies, piano and organ and I must say that I am impressed with the vocals on all of the tracks on this album.

Track three,"The Eyes Of Age", is a folky type song featuring violin and a great harmonic finish, certainly a more relaxing song.

Next we go back to more traditional prog with, "Alice's Eerie Dream", more rockier type music with Hammond and loud Gilmour-like guitar.

"The Last Oddity", starts slowly with acoustic guitar and mellotron and builds up into a rocky, bluesy number which echoes the Camel/Floyd influences.

Bonus track, his cover of "The Carpet Crawlers", was not bad don't get me wrong; but after listening to the original many times I found it hard to like. Certainly a very brave try.

All in all this is a great album and the two longest tracks, Achilles & Alice's Eerie Dream, are my favourites.
Even though you can hear the influences of other bands on the album Franck still stamps his own authority on the songs.
This album contains all the attributes you would expect of a good progressive rock album and I hope that there is a follow-up in the offing.
Have had, "Oddity", now for over three weeks; and still playing it, so that says it all.

BEN SOMMER - Super Brain (Album Review)

Edgy, political prog rocker BEN SOMMER's new album is called "Super Brain".

The album is the follow up to, "America'd".

I am told that, "Super Brain", was supposed to be Ben's debut album, around nine years ago; but he chose not to release it back then.

Anyhow, now finally released for all to hear, I must say it's a step up from "America'd".
Again I must warn you that traditional prog it is not; but if you like all forms of rock music, as I do, there is a lot to enjoy on this album.
Once again the songs are mainly about Ben's opinions on politics and consumerism and this time around you can definitely hear the Zappa influences.

Opening track, "Young Turks", could have been left over from his previous album, and if I found the tracks on middle section of this album too short, my only criticism is that this one is a little too long.

Enjoyed "I Married a Prostitute" and "Baby Mother" with the lyrics of the latter being oh so true in Britain today.

As I said earlier I found tracks 4 to 6 a little short in length; but even so they certainly get Ben's message across. Love the guitar squeals on "Cadaverism".

"Fist", is the most commercial track on the album and I certainly enjoyed this one as did I the Rush styled "De Profundis" with it's guitar and haunting keys.

"Dark Grey Matter", has some great bass and guitar work, great stuff.

The final two tracks "Deo Gracias Anglia" & "Cloaca Maxima" seemed a little bit complexed to me; but then after several plays they became very addictive.

This album is certainly better than, "America'd", and Ben's brand of music gets better and better.
You must play this album several times as the complexity of the songs require more than one listen to make a judgement.
Ben is certainly an accomplished guitarist and I cannot fault the production and humour on this album.
I must say I admire people like Ben as, even though I really love traditional prog, he is not afraid to break the norm and take prog several steps further.
Would be interesting to hear Ben play his music live.

What next?, only Ben can tell us this; but I am quite sure that he will continue to play, compose and record his unique style of prog.

OLIVER WAKEMAN To Present The Classic Rock Society's Awards

OLIVER WAKEMAN will be the special guest presenter at the CLASSIC ROCK SOCIETY's Awards Night on Saturday 3rd March at Montgomert Hall in Wath-upon-Dearne, Rotherham.

Oliver has recently played with both The Strawbs and Yes; and will be releasing a new solo album, "Cultural Vandals", in 2012

Members are reminded that they only have until tomorrow to cast their votes.

Some of you may be familiar with the Classic Rock Society in the UK. It has been running for many years now tirelessly supporting musicians and putting on concerts as well as releasing a bi-monthly magazine.

Each year there is an awards ceremony and awards are handed out to the musicians voted for by the readership. Oliver was fortunate enough to win the best Keyboard Player award on three separate occasions!

This year, however, Oliver has been asked to be the guest presenter at the awards and hand out the awards to the lucky winners. It should be a great evening and Oliver is looking forward to meeting up with lots of old friends!

Oliver and guitarist Gordon Giltrap have started work on a new collaboration, which although in it's very early stages, is progressing very quickly.

"Gordon and Oliver first met during one of his Dad's Christmas concerts where they both performed back in 2009. Gordon recently contacted Oliver with the offer of performing on his next solo album but this soon changed into a full scale collaboration. The final tone of the album hasn't been decided upon yet as both are keen to let the music lead the way but it will certainly be a welcome addition to both their catalogues!"

OSI To Release Brand New Album At The End Of March

OSI will release their new album, "Fire Make Thunder", on March 27th 2012.

"Fire Make Thunder marks the fourth undertaking for the collaborative duo known as OSI. Formed in 2002 by Jim Matheos (Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, former Dream Theater keyboardist), OSI is a long distance partnership, both musicians typically writing and recording alone and sending song ideas back and forth for further elaboration. Written and recorded throughout most of 2011, this latest release once again reflects the eclectic influences of both Matheos and Moore.

Fire Make Thunderis slated for a March 27th release via Metal Blade Records. Today OSI unveils the artwork and the tracklisting for their fourth release.

All of the recording for Fire Make Thunder, with the exception of drums, was done by Moore and Matheos at each musician's respective home studio with drums being recorded at Harrison's home in London. Final overdubs as well as some additional writing/arranging was completed in July 2011 in Jamaica, Iowa, where the band mixed alongside engineer Matt Sepanic at Sound Farm Studio and Recording Environment. Mastering was handled by renowned engineer Roger Siebel. The record was produced by both Moore and Matheos."

Landmarq keyboard maestro Mike Varty has filmed a live performance of his composition 'Stormbrewing', a track taken from the 'Entertaining Angels - Special Edition' album. RPWL To Release Their Concept Album "Beyond Man and Time" On March 13th

RPWL will release a concept album titled, "Beyond Man And Time", on March 13th.

There will also be a European tour, commencing in April, to promote the album.

"12 years after the formation of one of Germany's most successful art rock bands the Freising quintet RPWL takes its first shot at a concept album. "Beyond Man and Time" is a musical journey through the world outside of Platon's cave. On March 13, 2012 the record will be released in a standard version as well as an exclusive bonus edition that includes an audio book. The record will also be presented live across Europe in April 2012.

"6,000 feet beyond man and time" - that is how Nietzsche once signed off the first lines of his opus magnum "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". Quite similar to Nietzsche, RPWL's story's protagonist is on a journey and meets various characters, partly adapted from Zarathustra, as means towards new insight. The basic idea in this is a so-called "revaluation of values" in terms of a new way of thinking. In this world "beyond man and time" there already are creatures of higher knowledge that the protagonist meets allegorically along his way: the keeper of the cave, the willingly blind, the scientist, the ugliest human, the creator, the shadow, the wise man in the desert and the fisherman. RPWL's concept album "Beyond Man and Time" closes with a first resume, the big noon.

In addition to the regular version of the album there will also be a bonus edition limited of 2,000 copies. This exclusive edition includes an additional audio book that connects the music even more closely to the philosophical approach, plus a topographic map of the new world that is to be explored. Also, RPWL listeners are to be given a special live experience: audiences will be introduced to the record on an extensive European tour in April 2012.

The material is the perfect start for the five musicians as they were translating it into music. They create musical themes for every single character on "Beyond Man And Time": oriental percussion, expanded Moog-soli and an Indian sitar take care of a well placed, atmospheric and colorful adaptation. MLWZ is Polish Radio's (Alfa Krakow 102,40 FM) progressive rock show which started in 1994, on air every Wednesday between 8:00 and 10:30 pm CET.

Cherry Red Records' imprint Esoteric Recordings has announced the launch of a new imprint dedicated to new, front line album releases. Since its launch in 2007, Esoteric Recordings has gone from strength to strength as a catalogue label specialising in the genres of Progressive, Psychedelic and Classic Rock. Along with Esoteric's sister labels Atomhenge (home of the Hawkwind catalogue between 1976 - 1997), Manticore and "Kraut Rock" label Reactive, the imprint has built a catalogue of 300 titles and has worked with artists such as Jack Bruce, Barclay James Harvest, Tony Banks, Bill Nelson, P.F.M., Ray Thomas (of the Moody Blues), Tangerine Dream and many more. In April 2011 Esoteric released the new studio album, "A Grounding in Numbers", by the legendary Van Der Graaf Generator to great acclaim and success. Esoteric Recordings label manager Mark Powell said; "The success of the Van Der Graaf Generator album brought many new album projects to our door, leading us to look into the feasibility of launching a front line label. As a result, we are taking the step of establishing a label specifically for new, front line albums, ESOTERIC ANTENNA".

The first release on ESOTERIC ANTENNA will be a new edition of the album "DIVING BELL" by Oxford based band SANGUINE HUM on March 30th 2012, which will also include several new tracks. This will be followed by the release of the new album by SQUACKETT, the collaborative project from YES bass guitarist CHRIS SQUIRE and former GENESIS guitarist STEVE HACKETT in May. ESOTERIC ANTENNA will continue to champion the "new guard" of Progressive Rock by releasing new studio albums by PANIC ROOM in late June and THE REASONING in September. Legendary progressive acts will be further represented by the release of "PARACHUTE REBORN" in late April, a superb, newly recorded revisiting of the classic Pretty Things album "PARACHUTE" with additional material, by the XPT's (a band featuring original Pretty Things members WALLY WALLER, JON POVEY, PETE TOLSON and SKIP ALAN).

ESOTERIC ANTENNA's schedule will continue in the Autumn with a new album from JOHN LEES' BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST expected in October (accompanied by a UK tour to be announced shortly and further European concerts). Further releases by classic Progressive acts are also expected in 2012. The band will be releasing their new album, the follow-up to the excellent, "Satellite", at the beginning of JUNE.

After several months of planning, organising, business meetings and intensive beard-stroking ;o) we are delighted to be able to unveil some amazing news for you...
As of January 2012, Panic Room will be signed to the record label ESOTERIC, which is a part of the major 'CHERRY RED' record company!!!

Up until now, Panic Room have always been an independent band, and we are incredibly proud of all we have achieved since our beginnings. We've done all of this with just a lot of hard work, crazy-long hours, devotion / obsession, and a hell of a lot of passion for our music!And we've never been prouder of the band - or of you, our amazing family of fans - than we have over this last year.

It's this increasing level of success which really makes us want to take bigger steps, and achieve even more than we ever have before...We have been thinking for a long time about whether to stay independent or to sign with a label, who can give us a little more support and promotion and get us to bigger places, while also taking some of the pressure off us when we're having to do every job in the office (of which there are many!); ideally so that we could focus as much as possible on the music.

And then, at the very start of our autumn tour, we were approached by representatives of the label Esoteric, who knew of us through many industry insiders and A & R men, and were very keen to sign us! This was great timing as the band's energy and buzz were higher than ever, embarking on the big UK Tour. This new opportunity on the horizon spurred us on even more!

Esoteric operate under the 'mother' label Cherry Red, and the band will be part of the Cherry Red family... Which is an incredible place to be, and we were honoured to be invited!

To work with a label such as Esoteric / Cherry Red brings a thousand major benefits that it would be impossible for us to ignore - increased promotion in every area, profile-building with a creative team working with us, worldwide distribution with a fantastic new supplier, all the resources and contacts available from a big label, and countless more 'pros' and opportunities that we we wouldn't have had at our fingertips otherwise.

We met with the bosses of both Esoteric and Cherry Red, and we hit it off with them straight away; they're well-known and respected in the industry for being good people and being one of the rare companies in the music industry to really treat their artists right, and we could tell straight away that this was true on every level, and we'd be happy working with them.

When you've been working as a small team for a few years, and close friends for even longer, it can be daunting to let others in... But as soon as we met the Esoteric and Cherry Red folks, they felt like friends to us, and we knew they'd easily feel like an extension of our band family.

So, after careful consideration of all the details - of which there were many! (and after so long 'independent', you know your business inside out & need to be very careful and thorough) - we all discussed it as a band, and it was a unanimous 'Yes'!!!And so, we decided to go for it, and sign with the label!

It's not just a win-win situation, signing with a label, and that's why it takes a lot of careful consideration; particularly in these difficult times for the music industry.There are some sacrifices you make, for sure.... For example, giving away some of your profit.But when we will have the full backing of such a great label, and all the opportunities coming our way, plus we will maintain full creative freedom and still be mostly independent with our gig bookings etc... Well, weighing up the pros & cons, it was a 'no-brainer'!!!

Esoteric are a very well-respected label, and for 2012 they wanted to launch a whole new era of the label by concentrating on new 'front-line' releases - new bands, new albums, nothing but exciting new projects.They have great success with re-issues on their label too, but they wanted to differentiate all of this new material by branding it as something special - so, the new brand will be called 'ESOTERIC ANTENNA'.... reaching out to new horizons!

PANIC ROOM are very proud to be a part of this new venture for the label, and to be signing with them for our next album - Panic Room 3.Our first two albums will also be re-printed and released by Esoteric, so in total there will be all 3 of Panic Room's albums available to buy through Esoteric / Cherry Red!

We are currently working on finishing songs for the new album, which we'll start recording on 18th January (!!!)... and while the recording should be finished by late-February, our record label (!) want to give the album a serious push from then until its release, so currently we are anticipating a release date of late-May / early-June.This will build excitement for the album, and see it reviewed and plugged in all the right places ahead of its official release.

This special issue will be called "Entertaining Angels - Special Edition" and will include the new album plus a bonus disc, in it's own separate sleeve, that contains the tracks we were unable to squeeze onto the main album. All wrapped up in a 'Special Edition' slip cover.

So why the 'Special Edition'?Well, we had more material than we could fit into a single CD but it was not possible to extend to a double album due to the extra expense. Choosing which songs to leave out was very difficult. However, following talks towards the end of 2011 with our friends at QEDG (management), we found we were able to include a second disc.
We're really excited that we are able to release the 'Special Edition' but please note that this will be a limited issue and only available for a short time.
"Entertaining Angels" (the main single disc album) will be held back for a little while and we'll have more details about this release in due course.

"Progressive Rock keyboardist Lisa LaRue announces a special day at this beginning of the monumental year, 2012. On the first Tuesday of the year, January 3, 2012, LaRue will release two CD’s.

First on the slate is a remastered, redesigned package of the 2008 release, “Transformation 2012.” The disc includes a previously unreleased ‘bonus track.’

“The beginning of 2012 affords the perfect opportunity to bring this album back to the attention of the music community. ‘Transformation 2012’ follows the concept held by the Mayan elders and others that this year brings many transformational events to the world, including the story line of the end of a long war, which we are currently seeing,” stated LaRue.

While many people see the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012 as ‘doom and gloom’ and the possible end of the world, the Native elders teach that it simply is a transitional period where the world as we know it changes into a ‘new’ world existence.

The second release iof Prog Tuesday is “The Lisa LaRue Collection” which is a compilation of tracks from LaRue’s previous albums over the last 16 years, including “That Ol Sofkee Spoon,” “Ama,” “Transformation 2012,” “World Class” and “Fast and Blue.”

“With each CD release, more and more people have become aware of my music and concept albums, and are intrigued. Desiring to hear previous work, the idea of a ‘collection’ of the catalog seemed a logical release,” LaRue stated. The CD contains samplings of her solo work as well as work with musicians such as Native American flutist John “Yafke” Timothy, John Payne (Asia featuring John Payne) and Michael Sadler (Saga). It also includes the track “256 Leagues Above New Orleans,” nominated for a Hollywood Music Award as “Best Instrumental Song of the Year” in 2008, and work with her band Lisa LaRue 2KX, nominated as “Best Instrumental Artist of the Year” at the 21st Annual Los Angeles Music Awards."

GAZPACHO have announced nine dates to promote their new album, "March Of Ghosts".

Their 7th studio album will be available on Kscope from 27th February 2012.

"March Of Ghosts" is the band's follow-up to "Missa Atropos", which was released on Kscope in 2011 along with the live album, "London".

While "Missa Atropos" was a long story about one person leaving everything behind, "March of Ghosts" is a collection of short stories.

The idea was to have the lead character spend a night where all these ghosts (dead and alive) would march past him to tell their stories. Characters include Haitian war criminals, the crew of the Marie Celeste, a returning American WWI soldier who finds himself in 2012 and the ghost of an English comedy writer who was wrongly accused of treason.
They are short stories. They are a march of ghosts. They are tales that need to be told. And these tales can be heard from February 27th 2012."

Progressive metallers THRESHOLD have announced the cancelation of all their shows that were planned for April 2012.

The band are currently in the studio recording the new album, "March Of Progress", but regretfully vocalist Damian Wilson has been taken ill so all of the band's plans are now delayed.
